Alabama Bethea Slaves
I have a receipt, from the estate of David Bethea, for slaves by J.W. Bridges. This is dated December 12th, 1845. The document is a very legible, and clean. The slave names are: Reuben, Perry, Fanny, Rachel, Serena, and Tina. They are worth one thousand nine hundred dollars. In an 1840 census, it appears that David Bethea owned 50 slaves in Wilcox, Alabama. Let me know if anyone is interested, and I will send a copy.
