How is this for a possibility? Michael Betton born Broseley Shropshire 1692. James Betton born Broseley Shropshire 1696. Thomas Betton born Broseley Shropshire 1699. John Betton born Broseley Shropshire 1702. James moves to Dudley, sets up his family there, and is a Joiner. John moves to Stanton-Upon-Hine-Heath, sets up his family there, and is a Glazier. Thomas and Michael take out a patent in 1742 for the manufacture of Betton's British Oil. Thomas marries at Atcham April 17th 1723, being from the parish of Broseley,a Mary Manning of Wellington. Nothing more is heard about Michael, regarding marriage etc in Shropshire. One of the ingredients for Betton's British Oil is Barbados Tar, one assumes that this comes from Barbados. In the Genealogy.com records a Michael Betton and a Mrs.Duglis Betton are shown as Barbados Settlers from England, ref.CD022.--Is this Michael from Broseley, who perhaps travelled to Barbados for the tar, and decided to stay?--On the East Coast of Barbados is a Township called Bethsheba.--We then look at Genealogy .com Genforum, posted by Judith A Zastawny, which gives details of the family links of Turbutt Betton, The Betton Plantation proprietor from Tallahasse, Bethsheba Dyre/Dyer, Mary Dyre. Bethsheba Dyre Betton and others.--Michael is a rear name in the Betton family at any time. Could this Michael from Broseley and Barbados be one of the same, and the missing link, between Shropshire, and the Southern States of America?
