Researching family of my g-g-grandfather, William BEVEL (born 1837 in GA).Have located William BEVEL in the 1850 Gilmer County GA census, enumerated with mother Mary (head of household), with younger brothers James and Henry Randolph.
Mary is enumerated in the 1860 Gilmer County GA census as Mary SWETT, with son George Clarence and son Henry Randolph BEVEL living in the next household.
Mary is enumerated in the 1870 Gilmer County GA census as Mary BEVEL, with sons Henry Randolph and George Clarence.
My g-g-grandfather, William BEVEL, fought in the Civil War and is later found in Chilton County AL 1880 Census. He later moved to Jefferson County AL where he died in 1908.
His brother, James, also fought in the Civil War and died at the Battle of Baker's Creek in MS.I have located a g-grandaughter of Henry Randolph BEVEL and have learned that he migrated to TX where he raised a family and died.
I have been unsuccessul in finding any information on the youngest brother, George Clarence BEVEL.I did locate him in the 1880 Murray County GA census with wife America and three daughters and one son, John.
My attempts to discern the father of William BEVEL and his three brothers has also been unsuccessful.I believe he may have been employed with the railroad which explains his abscence on the Gilmer County GA 1850 & 1860 census during which time George Clarence BEVEL was born.
I would certainly appreciated any information or research tips.
