it seems that the beveridges did not come from a lot of different places in scotland.my great grandparents wereborn in scotland in 1863 and 1865. AGNES MONAHAN and ANDREW BEVERIDGE ,i do not know where they came from in scotland. they came to america with agnes's sister MARY ( she married GUS SPRADLING had 2 or 3 children in w va.) and their father, PETER PATRICK MONAHAN. andrew's mother also came with them, she died in 1905. peter patrick monehan's family was irish, but he was born in scotland. agnes and andrew beveragehad 5 children born either in kansas, oklahoma or fort smith ark. ,where they grew up. ALICE b 1893 m bugg , WILLIAM PETER b 1888 m 2 times.( 1st was briefhad a child , EVALYNN )the 2nd lasted 50 years to MALLE KEANE of grafton w va.,a sister, MARY d as infant ,CHRISTINE b 1895 mlocklin d 1932 in an accident and HELEN b 1899 m oak cain d in the ,i think,1980ies.i knew helen and my grand parents, william and malle only.helen and oak CAIN had a grocery distribution businessin buckcannan , w va. william BEVERIDGE went to princeton, played minor league baseball and then went into business, operating coalmines with his father in w va. his father , andrew, died in a mine accident in 1919. my grandparents, WILLIAM OR BILL AND MALLE BEVERIDGE, lived in w va. they had 3 children all raised in w va. one, elizabeth jean ,"betty" , is the only one still living.she went to university of w va, had sister marie , brother andrew. she is now 83,stilled married to my father , 86 . there are several cousins around, but nobody has any idea where the beveridges came from in scotland. i have heard that the scott and lang families came here with them. andrew managed the rail roads and mining interests of jay gould when he got to this country.i have tried to find out more about andrew beveridge's family in scotland, even though his mother came over too, i don't know her name, she was referred to as "grandma" , even in family bible.
