I have just obtained research notes from a Barnes related cousin in Texas--whose Aunt did the research in the 50s regarding the parents of Sarah BEVILL BARNES, wife of John Barnes. The Aunt who did this research is now deceased. I have not had a chance to prove this research having just received it, but thought I would post what this research states regarding Sarah's parents and siblings as a possible lead for all those who are descended from John and Sarah Barnes who lived in N.C., VA, Alabama and finally in Arkansas.
According to the research notes, Edward Bevill, who was born September 16, 1762 in Mecklenburg County, VA was Sarah's father. Her mother was 'Mary' (maiden name not listed). Edward Bevill was a Revolutionary Soldier who enlisted 3 times and fought with Captain Charles Clay's Company, Colonel Lewis Burrell's Virginia Regiment, Captain Richard Whitton's company and in Colonel George Tucker's Virginia Regiment.
Edward lived in Mecklenburg Co., VA for about 15 years. After the close of the Rev War he moved to North Carolina near Guilford Count House. In 1825 he moved to Madison Co., AL.At the time of his application for his Rev War pension--dated October 29, 1832, Edward was living near Sulphur Springs, Madison Co., AL. The last payment of Edward's pension was made October 18, 1837. On September 11, 1847, Edward certified that he had resided in Madison County, AL for a period of 22 years and previously resided in North Carolina.
The children listed for Edward and Mary Bevill in the research notes of the Barnes related cousin are:
Woodlief Bevilleborn about 1784 Married: Judith Brackett on November 4, 1804 in Amelia Co.,VA.
Robert Bevilleborn about 1795
Sarah Bevilleborn about 1797 Married John Barnes(My line)
Hawkey P. Bevilleborn about 1800
Edward T. Beville Jr. born about 1802
All of the above is being posted only as a possible lead.
