I've also been interested in learning more about our Billington ancestors. My Mom-in-law gave me a book called "Plymouth Colony - Its history & People, 1620-1691" which gave me some more info.
John had 2 sons, Francis & John.John the younger died before John the elder was hung, drawn & quartered.Francis married a widow, then they had 9 children between them. They farmed out some of their kids - until adulthood.
John the younger wandered off and stayed with the Indians for a while, until a party of men sent off to retrieve him.Francis nearly blew up the Mayflower, when he shot off a gun or something in the cabin (full of kegs of gunpowder).Francis also "discovered" a pond/lake, which still exists, and is called Billington Sea.
It was obvious from reading Bradford's account that he detested the Billington family, but wouldn't it be cool to find G-Gma Eleanor's journal or something?!I want to know THEIR side of the story.
