Hattie...
The "K" as a middle initial was originally an interpretation on my part in relation to the 1880 Census. On both the 1870 and 1880 Census in does appear as an "H".But then I performed scans on the LDS Family Search as well as the Rootsweb and Genealogy.com sites, and found an entry where the middle initial "K" popped up.The apparent transposition of written "K" and "H" is fairly common in older style handwriting.
At that period of time (1830-1880) the name Billington was not that common in central and northwestern Maine. That helps us out tremendously.
There's several GenWeb projects going on in Oxford and Kennebec Counties of Maine that may be worth tapping into. Also, the Maine State Library in Augusta, has fairly extensive compilations of cemetery inventories, by county and city/town.
