My GGG Grandfather Thomas M. Birkhimer who was born in PA. Came to West Virginia some time in the 1840's He and two of his sons, John M. and James were also gunsmiths. Thomas M. Birkhimer later becomes a physicaian sometime in 1860. He dies in Pleasants County, West Virginia in 1881. James dies in 1859, Pleasents, West Virginia. John M. Birkhimer continues the trade of gunshmith until 1870. He dies in Pleasents County, West Virginia in 1890. Thomas J. Birkimer, who is my GG grandfather, is also a son of Thomas M. Birkhimer. Thomas J. Birkhimer who was a farmer also in Pleasents and served in the West Virginia 7th Infantry during he Civil War. I believe this rifle may be Thomas M. Birkhimers' or possibley Thomas J. Birkhimers'. I'd like to talk more and would greatly appreciate if you could send me your e-mail. Thank You, Rich
