The earliest Biss I found in the family was Robert Biss ,born1776 in Yenson .He may have owned land inYarley *LDS film 1545235. I also found him in the 1841 census listed as a widower. He had a wife Elizabeth born 1776. His grandson, William was listed with him aged 20 , born1831 in Henton. Robert had a son named William who died relatively young and the son, was born a few months after he died. William Biss was born in Worth, Somerset, Wellsin 1799; married Feb 25,1821 and died June 14,1829.He married Elizabeth Hill born 1795and she was from Yarley. Elizabeth died May 18, 1867. She remarried after William's death, Thomas Denlee born 1801 . The children born to William Biss and Elizabeth Hill are as follows: George Biss born 1822 died at 1 mo. Elisabeth Biss April 06, 1824 Anne born 1827 William Biss born Nov 26,1829 after his father died. George Biss was listed in the 1851 census born in 1826 . So I guess there had been 2 so named. He is residing with the Denlee family after his Mother's marriage.
Next in our line is the above William, born Nov 26,1829 of Wookey and Ecclesiastical Dist of Henton . He married Ann_____ born 1827 from Meare, Somerset . The family lived on Turnpike Rd. Their children were: Elisabeth Ann born 1859 Thomas born April 24, 1860 and bapt. May 26, 1862 Mary Ann baptized Oct 16 1863 Kate born 1865 William Biss born April 29, 1869 John Biss born 1871
Our line comes down on Thomas Bissborn April 24, 1860. He emigrated to America at about 20 years of age. Friends or close relatives had already made the move to America and he worked for them until he had enough money to send for his girl friend Louisa Hamm. Her father's name was listed as Peter Ham. I know very little about that family, The group of local people that had come to America were in the Tripp and Kuff families. They moved to Cayuga Co , NY. If anyone has other information, I would appreciate comparing notes. DIANE TITUS
