Hi Dorothy - thanks for your reply! Our Celia/Cecilia's are not the same person, but I do think we can help each other.
My Celia Bissett/Bessette (maiden name) (born in IL) married my gg grandfather Julius Martell (born in Quebec - moved to IL as a youngster with his family). They were married in Kankakee County, IL in 1882. So, she was known asCelia/Cecilia Martell by the time they moved to Rooks County, Kansas with their oldest 2 or 3 children. So far I have have not been able to find her parents or siblings.
I know there was at least one Bissett family living in Rooks County at that time. There was a Hubert Bissett (born in Missouri 1860) married to Louise Adams in 1884 in Kankakee. This couple moved to Rooks County and had 13 children. I have been trying to determine if my Celia/Cecilia was related to them (sister, niece, etc.??).So far, I have not been able to connect them or her back to family in IL.
I did come across the name of Cecilia (Boudreau) Bissett on an obituary list from the Plainville Times newspaper. It lists a death date of 28 March 1973 and the age at death as 75. Could this be your Cecilia?
They have a simple form you can fill out and for a small fee will look up and send you a copy of an obit.I did this recently and they had a very quick turnaround time.
I did obtain the obit for Hubert Bissett - I would be happy to scan and send it to you if it might provide any clues to you.
Not to confuse things but..... I have a Mary/Marie Boudreau b. 1889 d. 1970 in Beatrice, Nebraska married to William (Bill) Martell b. 1 May 1887 d. 1963 in Beatrice, Nebraska. He grew up in Rooks County - she might have also. Any connection with your Boudreau's??
Would like to trade more info.Let me know if this helps.
