Hi Sue,Just saw your posting on Genealogy.com.I have a Sarah Lyon born 1780, who married Dawson Blackmore on 10 August 1797, probably in Georgetown.Dawson was born in 1772 in Frederick County, MD and was the son of William Blackmore and Sarah Dawson of Prince George County, MD.Dawson died in 1865 and he and Sarah are both buried in Warsaw, KY.They had a daughter Elizabeth, who was born on 4 Jan 1805 and died on 2 Oct 1850.Sarah and Dawson lived in Georgetown, Beaver County, PA until 1811 when they moved down the Ohio River, and with Sarah's brother Jonathan Lyon, set up the town of Madison, Indiana.Sarah Lyon's family had settled in Georgetown in 1792.Her father was Samuel Lyon II and he lived in Georgetown from 1792 to his death in 1807.He lived to be 101 years old, had two wives and 22 children.Sarah was the next to last child, so he was c.74 years old when she was born. What a man !
I believe Dawson Blackmore had at least two sisters, Sara and Rebecca.I have visited Georgetown twice and searched through the cemetery there.I have seen William and Charles' graves.William and Sarah Dawson Blackmore moved to Smiths Ferry, PA in 1784.It is directly across the Ohio River from Georgetown.I love that area.
This is all from my book, "The Descendants of Samuel Lyon, The Centenarian, in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio and Kentucky" which I published in 1988.Some of my information came from Mr. and Mrs. David B. Gaines.Mr. Gaines is a descendant of Dawson and Sarah Blackmore's youngest son, Thomas Moore Blackmore, who died in 1899.
Does this fit anything for you ?Let me hear from you.
