help: Abraham Blackshear 1742&1772 DE/NC
Hey folks:
My wife's family has passed down through the generations info from Abraham Blackshear/Blacksher Jr. & M. Lord. The generations that follow, moving from NC, GA, and into AL are well doucmented on the male side: Jeptha J. Blacksher b. 1807; David Wesley Blacksher b. 1841; John Jeptha Blacksher, etc..
Going in the other direction, however, we reach a divergent path with Jeptha J. Blacksher's (b.1807) father.Family tradition holds that his dad, Abraham Blackshear, married as a second wife a Mildred Lord (other on-line sites refer to her as Malinda Lord).Family tradition also states that this Abraham was born of an Alexander Blackshear who was born in Germany/Palatine and died in North Carolina in 1786, when he was about 80 years old. This contradicts some family trees that show the Abraham who married Miss Lord to be a son of Abraham Blackshear/Blackshaw b. circa 1742 in Kent Co. DE, who came from Alexander Blackshawe/Blackshear (b.1708 d. 1785)& Anges Stout also of Delaware. Can any of y'all set me straight?
Possibly the great German migration was on the maternal side.My information on the wives does not include their parents. Do any of you know the antecedents of Anges Stout (d. 1793); Malinda/Matilda Lord; Martha Mayo (d. 1887); Margaret Lee McGowan (b.1851 d.1918); Maysie Packer (d. 1945) or on the wife of Abraham Blackshear Sr (b.1742)?
Lastly, one site indicated that the Alexander Blackshear who married Agnes Stout fought in the American Revolution, which seems to me astonishing given that he would have been 69 at the time.
Any thoughts?
