Thomas Blaikie the famous Scottish landscape gardener who spent most of his working ife in France and whose most famous garden is probably the garden of Bagatelle in Paris had an illegitimate daughter whom he recognised as his own around 1782. Her name was Constance Blaikie. I am the author of a new biography of Blaikie and found this information which has never before been published until my book came out last month. My book is called "Thomas Blaikie (1751-1838) The Capability Brown of France". It is published by Tuckwell Press and you can read about it on Tuckwell's website www.tuckwellpress.co.uk If anyone can give me any information about Constance Blakie I would be most interested. I know her mother's name but have found no reference to her birth, marrige or death apart from a legal document among Blaikie's papers. Blaikie had no other children but his sister Isabella Torbet had heirs.
