Searching old posts I found this information; Caleb Abernathy Blake was born Aug. 29, 1806 in Abbeville Co. SC. and died in 1868. His wife, Katherine C. Johnston was born in 1817, SC and died in 1883, Fannin Co., TX. They were married around 1835 in SC. Their children are: Caleb Wilson, Della Lettitia, Louvinia Jane, Kennedy Hunter (b. 1844), John Lenard (b. 1846), Samuel Leland (b. 1849), Mary Elizabeth (b. 1852), William Leander (b. 12/08/1856), Martha Carlisle (b. 1857), James Rennie (b. 1860), and George Washington (b. 1863). As I mentioned before, I am a descendant of William Leander Blake. Tammy
Another person posted; We have in our family a book that was printed in Jacksonville, Fl. ( no longer in print) Actually it is a plastic bound legal size. Anyway, I thought I would clear up the information about Caleb A. Blake. This was thoroughly researched by one of our ancestors in 1957. This Caleb, 1805 - 1868 (actually was born August 29, 1806 and died April 4, 1869. He was the son of John and Jane Bell Blake. His siblings were as follows: Mary 1793, died young; Molley Kennedy 1794, died young; Kenney Hunter 1796-1848; William Newton 1798 - 1875; Adam Bell 1800-1887 (this is our line) Jane 1802-1831; John M 1804-1881; Caleb Abernathy 1806-1869; who married Catherine Johnson; Mary Ann 1808-1828; Sarah Withrow 1810-?; Esther Elizabeth 1812-1870; James Madison ?-?. Caleb did not have a brother named Joshua. The name of this book is the Greenwood Tree. All the children were born in Greenwood, S. C. in the Abbeville District. John and Jane and William and his wife Elizabeth are buried in the cemetery at the Rock Presbyterian Church in Greenwood. Let me know if there is any more information that you need. I don't know much about Caleb, but our book says that there were seven children, and after Caleb died in 1869, his wife and the children moved to Texas. They could not make any more connections when they researched them so I am happy to get any information on this forum that I see. John's parents (Caleb's grandparents) were Mary Kennedy and William Blake 2nd, and William's parents were Mary Munnholland and Robert Blake, and Robert's parents were William Blake, born 1642 in Ireland and the mother is unknown. Robert was one of many children.
personal note, Louvinia Jane Blake is burried in a family cemetery in Lannius Texas, Fannin County, her headstone spells her name as Lavinia. I've seen the headstone, the property was in my family until recently. Is is my g grandmother.
