The Leon Journal-Reporter (Leon, Iowa) Wednesday, August 30, 2006 Page 2 James Earl Blake, age 94 Lamoni, Iowa, the son of Charles Lafayotte and Elizabeth (Guilliams) Blake, was born April 2, 1912 in Ringgold County, Iowa.He died at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa on Saturday, August 26, 2006. Earl grew up in Decatur County, Iowa.He entered the United States Army in early 1942 and was honorably discharged in October 1945.While in the service he met Myrtle "Tiny" Pearl Pinegar.They were married October 12, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas. The couple rented farms in Harrison County, Missouri and Decatur County before buying their own farm west of Lamoni in 1955.In 1963 Earl and Tiny welcomed into their home teenage nephew Alfred and niece Maxine Pinegar to become a family.In 1981 Earl and Tiny retired and moved into Lamoni. Earl farmed most all of his life.His family was very important to him and relished the time spent with them.He enjoyed shooting pool in earlier years.He was a member of the Lamoni United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Lamoni V.F.W. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers: Virgil and George Blake and three infants; sisters: Gladys Krebs and Mable Thomas; nephew Alfred Lyle Pinegar; and great nephew Alfred Arthur Pinegar. Those surviving are his wife Tiny Blake of Lamoni; niece Maxine Shields and husband Roger of Lamoni; great nephew Scott Shields and wife Haley and their children Blake and Sage of Lamoni; great niece Stacey Karlis and husband Greg and their children Abby, Annie, and Ally of Fairfield, Washington; great nephew Rick Pinegar of Davis City and his children Alta Pinegar and her daughter Elizabeth Boswell; Cameron PInegar; and McKayla Pinegar; great great nieces Jocelyn Pinegar & her two sons; and Bailey Hobbs; many other nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Polly Blake of Lamoni; Tiny's sisters Wanda Olson adn Anna Fery and sister-i8n-law Leona Pinegar, all of Des Moines, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
