Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. Here is what I know. James Thomas Blake (who went by Thomas according to my grandmother) was born in France and died in Hannibal, Marion Co, MO on 2-18-1932 at about the age of 89. He is buried in the Mount Olivet Cemetery (section 7, lot 14, grave 34) in Hannibal, MO. According to his death certificate, he was married to a Mary and a Henry Blake signed the death certificate as the informant. My grandma has fond memories of her Grandpa Blake. She said she used to visit and he would buy her ice cream and call her his "little Mautina", and she said he had an accent.
Jessie Miller Blake (b.1881 in De Soto, MO; d.1963 in Oxly, Ripley Co, MO, buried in Antioch Cemetery, Ripley Co, MO) was the son of James Thomas Blake. We don't know who Jessie's mother was. Jessie married Rachel Hayse (b. 3-21-1889, White Co, IL; d. 8-8-1946, Corning, Clay Co, AR) on 2-17-1906. Their children were: Virginia Margett (b.12-25-1906, Corning, Clay Co, AR; d. Jan 1986, buried in Antioch Cemetery, Ripley Co, MO; this is my great-grandmother, her middle name was supposed to be Margaret, but Margett was on her birth certificate); Jessie Frances (female); Pauline (female); and Leslie (male).
Virginia married Everett McGhehey (b. 5-22-1906; d. 12-24-1929, buried in Holobaugh Cemetery, Lawrence Co, AR) and they had one child, who is my grandmother. She later had her name changed to just Jean McGhehey (b. 3-21-1926), but she won't tell us her given name. It was something like Virginia Rachel Maudine McGhehey (but we aren't sure what order the names were in.) I kind of suspect Jessie's mother or grandma was named Maudine or something similar.
Jean McGhehey married Thomas Alan Jones (b. 7-22-1912; d.10-8-1987) and their children were: Patricia H. (b. 1947; this is my mother), Gary Alan, Diana Lynn, & Denver Lee.
Patricia H. married Ronald Lewis Dawes (b. 1944) and their children are: Gary T. (b. 1966), Lisa M. (b. 1969), & Christy J. (b.1979, this is me).
This is it. I would greatly appreciate you sharing info with me if you obtain it! I would like to find out more about the Blake side of my family and see if I have any distant relatives who can shine a light on things.
Thanks much!
Christy
