Many, many posts claim that Thomas BLAKENEY (son of Capt. John BLAKENEY) died December 2, 1822 Montgomery Co. TN
Does ANYONE have the Will of Thomas BLAKENEY? Supposedly in quotes "The natural love and affection I have for my daughter Jane Lucy, late widow of Cadwallader Lucy of Washington County, Ala" (my line through their daughter Nancy LUCY Curtis)
Supposed 3rd wife Harriet was a freed slave. However, she states in her Will (I have a transcription) only that "I, Harriet Blakeny, a woman of color, formerly the property of Thomas BLAKENY, now emancipated," and"I nominate Thomas Blakeny, Sr. Executor, for this my last will and testament. It DOES not say he was her husband. It is dated December 18, 1822 and Proven January 1823.
If Harriet lists Thomas as the executor of her will dated December 18th, then he did not die December 2, 1822.
If she were even living in that household in 1820 why is she not listed in the columns 'free color female'.However, Thomas DOES have 3 boys under ten and 2 boys under 16.Harriet lists 5 boys in her Will (I havent calculated their ages yet - but there are trees posted of those who have). Hugh BLAKENEY is the only other BLAKENEY I can find there in 1820. 1830 shows 3 BLAKENEYs... all three names werre listed in Harriet's Will.
I have never seen a post quoting Thomas listing Harriet's children in his Will; only naming daughter Jane.
Thomas' second wife was Mary ATKINSON and the mother of Jane.Jane named her 1st daughter Mary. The headstone of Susanna LOWERY (note spelling) says she was the 1st wife and died 1807 - posts say they divorced.. Jane was born 1778 as close and I can figure from census.
ANYONE have a document of ANY kind willing to share?
