Hi: I'm back to trying to find my ggf, John Henry Blakeslee's proof of birth and parents after a four year lapse, due to illness in the family.According to death certificate, his parents were George Blakeslee & Mary Watson.I still have not been able to find proof of John's birth.I'm beginning to think that the mother's name may not be correct. According to oral history, John's father was married twice.(See below census data).
John Henry was born in Dallas, PA on 8 Dec. 1872. He married Clara Isabella Milleron 24 Oct. 1896, according to my aunt's bible. He is not found on any census until 1900, living in Hazleton, Luzerne Co. and already had a few children.
I have found a George Blakeslee in Kidder Twp. in 1870, age 16 son if Mary Blakeslee with sibs William and Rachel. In 1850, the same family is there and head of household is John Blakeslee, age 40.He is kind of young to be a father at 18, but it could happen. Yet, if John's father was married twice, this wouldn't make much sense.
There is also a George Blakeslee living in Kingston, Luzerne Co., age 18, in the house of J.B. Blakeslee and Elizabeth Blakeslee in 1850, with sibs Henry, Charles, Lucy, Rhoda, Lyman, Robert H., and Mary. This would make more sense to be "my" George, as Kingston is not far from Dallas. .
Does anyone know of John Henry Blakeslee's parents???? Could either of the above family be my missing link?
After 10 years of searching, you would think I could break my brick wall. Really need someones help.TIA, Sharon
