Chery, Thanks for sharing. William Thomas Blakesley was named for my ggrandfather, William Thomas Harris by his sister, Almiranda. William Thomas Blakesley was the son of Andrew J. (b. Abt. 1840, IN;d. 5 Oct 1864, Altoona, Bartow Co., GA in Civil War battle)and Almiranda Emeline Harris(b. 10 Jan 1842, Warren Co., Indiana;d. 19 Nov 1921, Oakland, Alameda Co., CA) Blakesley. His siblings were Charles Lafayette (b. Abt. 1862, IA) and Columbus Blakesley (Abt. 1861, IA).
Almiranda came west with her father Courtland Harris and married Steven Brewer Elkins. They had John Courtland, Stephen Franklin, Cecil Emery, and Eldora Icyphine Elkins.
Andrew J. Blakeley is the son Obediah and Harriet Carter Blakesley.See George Fink's post on April 30, 2001 on this forum.
Andrew's brother, Isaac Milton Blakesly married Almiranda's older sister, Abigail Harris, 30 Oct 1850.This family also moved to California with the others.
If I can provide more information please contact me.I have Harris back 3 more generations.
