As you say, the name does get around. There is a whole bunch of up here in Canada. I don't know all the details but the story goes something like this. Four brothers came over from North England during the 19th century in search of a better life. Three stowed away during the passage; the fourth had a ticked (apparently he had a big mouth). Upon arriving in Quebec, all took homesteads in Saskatchewan. A few years later, one moved east (to Ontario).
