Rose Allie Bowen Blevins, 87, of Kingsport, Sullivan Co
TN, entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at
the Wexford House following a period of declining health.
Born in Blackwater, VA, on December 9, 1923, a daughter of
the late Gale R. and Cora Lenna Giles Bowen, she has
resided in this area since 1974.
She retired in 1998 from Holston Valley Medical Center
following an extensive career as a hospital technician.
Rose will be remembered as a loving, caring, giving mom,
mamaw, sister, aunt, and friend whose life touched many
others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by
her husband, Hester O. Blevins; son, Steven Gale Blevins;
infant son, Larry Richard Blevins; granddaughter, Melanie
Dawn Brickey; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Phyllis Brickey and husband
Bob, of Kingsport, TN, Nina McGee and husband Jim, of
Wilmington, NC, and William 'Ron' Blevins and wife Eileen,
of Limestone, TN; stepson, Jim Blevins and wife Saundra,
of Newnan, GA; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grand-
children; two sisters, Cora Neeley, of Kingsport, TN, and
Wanda Joyner and husband Clifford, of Church Hill, TN; and
several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.,
on Monday, January 31, 2011, in the J. Wayne Hamilton
Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow with Pastor Richard Kelly
officiating. Music will be provided by great-grandson,
Burial will follow graveside services at 11 a.m., on
Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons and grand-
daughters. Family and friends will assemble at the
graveside by 10:45 a.m., Tuesday.
