Edna M. Blevins, 73, passed away on the evening of April 7, 2011, after battling cancer for seven long years. Jesus called her home from all the strife and suffering cancer caused her.
Heaven is much sweeter and precious now with her there with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Kendrick, of Danville, VA.
She was born Sep. 12, 1938, in Danville. She was a floral designer for Pippin Florist for 32 years, where she dearly loved designing flowers for her friends and special customers. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, George W. 'Bill' Blevins; children, Bruce Lapina and wife Julie, Alan James, Belinda James, Tony James and wife Beth, Mark James, and Tabatha Bailey and husband Tom; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Brown and Rita Powers and husband, Glen; brothers, Berkley Kendrick, Lathan Kendrick, Douglas Kendrick and wife Brenda; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Forrest Swan, Jr., and his staff, fifth floor nurses at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Brenda, Lee, and a host of others for their tender care of her. Also, Dr. John Fred Williams and special nurse, Joyce Yates.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 10, 2011, at 2 p.m., at Liberty Baptist Church, with the Rev. Stan Anderson officiating and Wiley Webb giving the Eulogy.
The burial will follow in Eastern Heights Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Douglas Kendrick, Glen Powers, Travis James, Josh James, Lucas Bailey, Joe Bailey, and Christian Daniels.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m - 8 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Weaver Funeral Home.
