Died in Corpus Christi, TX 9 Feb 1893, Mrs. Elena Blossman, relict of R.D. Blossman, aged 78 years.
Mrs. Blossman's life was a long and eventful one; born in Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain 13 Feb 1815, and married to Richard Daniel Blossman at Matamoros Mexico, 8 Sep 1832 or 1852.She was a woman of cultural and literary attainments.According to the admitted laws of hereditary, she felt a natural predeliction for literature and poetry, her father Juan Rita Reyes, B.A. and M.D., and her grandfather Felix Maria Samaniego (1745- 1801) was the author of the "Fables of Samaniego".Mrs. Blossman's contribution to poetry under the pen name "Blue Bonnet"published during the war of the states were particularly delightful.
Her mother, Rita Samaniego was a lineal descendant of Ponce de Leon.
Mrs. Blossman was well acquainted with four languages and a fine musician.
Of thirteen children, only three survive her: Mrs. Julia E. Haynes and Robert George Blossman of Corpus Christi, and Mrs. F. Snider of Hico.
The subject of the sketch was a devout Catholic.
