I am looking for more information on James Bloyd and family, born in 1813 and living in Macon, Missouri in 1850. I think he may be the son of John Bloyd, age 70, living in Macon at the same time. I know James married a Ratliff and also that an Elijah Bloyd married a Lucy Ratliff. There were two Bloyd men that married McCubbins and Elizabeth Bloyd that married Nicholas McCubbin. I find other interconnections, so I believe that John and William Bloyd must have been brothers. It seems they are near to the same age and both came from Scotland. There are too many consistencies. Also my grandmother told me some unusual stories that the Bloyds are "Bluebloods" and changed the spelling of their name after arriving in the US. She said they had an estate called Bloydsmore back in England, but I'm not sure of the spelling because she didn't know the original Bloyd spelling, but she always maintained that we descended from the Royal family. Has anyone ever heard these kinds of stories n their Bloyd lines? She also said Bloyds were known for their striking blue eyes with flecks of gold.
