Other than the spelling errors, there's the problem of his paternal ancestors coming from Wales. His paternal grandmother, Sarah Wilson, was born in MA.Have never found evidence for where Oliver Bly was born, but I doubt he was born in Wales. He, too, was probably born in MA, as there wasn't much migration in the mid 1700s; especially in New England.
Also, the obit states that: "Thomas Carloo [sic], fought for independence through the entire Revolutionary war." Actually, the only military service he is credited with is:"...he served in Colonel Wood's regiment in 1780" [We Were Here: The Corlew Family Genealogy byLarry Corlew, 1996, Family History Publishers, Bountiful, UT]. Would appreciate hearing from anyone about evidence to the contrary.
Then the story of Thomas Corlew slaying "...his three captives [sic] with the limb of a tree..." sounds pretty fanciful, not to mention the other praises heaped on him by the "journalist".
