Many thanks for your reply, Lisa. My gr-grandfather was Barnet Green who moved from Harlan County, KY, to Holt County, MO, sometime in the early 1860s. My grandfather, Thomas Parish Green, the youngest of the children, was born in Bigelow, Holt County, in 1876. Barnet died abt 1878 and my gr-grandmother, Mary Jane Porter Green (Barnet's second wife) moved with her children to Hood County, Texas, to be near her brother.
Some relatives remained behind in NW Missouri, including an older child of Barnet by his first marriage in Harlan County. Her name was Elizabeth. Also, an older son by Mary Jane, James T., was either left behind or died between 1877 and 1880. My grandfather, who died in 1960 in Wellington, Texas, used to mention two names as cousins, I believe. They were a Dean Boatright and a Mina Hogan. I had always assumed that Dean was female. I understand that as late as the 1930s/40s, Dean was writing to Thomas P. Green. Do any of these names or stories "ring a bell." If so, I have much material on my Greens which I would be willing to share.
