This is the only info that I have been able to find at this time.No, I have not seen the will.As far as I can tell he and my Nancy (nee unknown) Muse did not have any children.She entered her marriage to him with 3 children,her daughter Mary E is my gg grandmother.

"Bodkins", James and Mews, Nancy Ann

There is a will in the Marion County Iowa court records with a date of 3 Jul 1848 for a James Bodkins.

1847 Marion County, Iowa State census
James Botkins 5 people enumerated between John Essex and Moses Long

James is the only Botkins (Bodkins) that I find in any records during this time periord.

"History of Marion County, Iowa by Wright and Young 1915"
"1846 Territory or Iowa Marion County"
"...petit jury, whereupon the following persons, to wit, ...James Botkin...all good and lawful men, appeared and answered to their names as petit jurors of said court."
