I am here looking for links to Michael Bodnar, of Glendon, Alberta, Canada. He married Dominica Cucheran April 22, 1922 in Glendon, Alberta. They had 5 children: Franko-John Bodnar (now deceased) born on November 24, 1923, Margaret Helen Bodnar (now Campbell)born on July 2, 1927, Anna Lucille (MacNeil before the divorce) born on September 28, 1928, Stephania J. born on August 23, 1930 (now deceased) and my mother Amelia Sophia (now Bilyeu) born on May 20, 1932.
Michael Bodnar came over to Alberta in the fall of 1912, from what is now Ukraine, then Austria-Hungary, the Galicia province, Husiatyn county, Suchostaw town.Michael was born to Iwan/Ivan and Melenia Yacyshyn (this is how he spelled it when trying to put it into English), on October 7, 1895.
He had 3 brothers and a sister: Philip Alexander (died Dec. 16, 1965) D'Metro and Tetiana (born 1900, died Dec. 7, 1970.Married to Metro Wizniuk on July 11, 1914).
My grandpa never found out what happened to Philip and Metro. He wrote that D'Metro went to Washington state, had a job on Pueget Sound on the boats then moved to Sacramento, CA as a pruner in some orchards.D'Metro wrote often but the last letter my grandpa Michael got from him was in 1938 and he never heard from him again.
Philip was going to Alaska to work with the mail/P.O. in the summer and then work in Seattle in fall, and they never heard from him after he left.My grandpa Michael said they wrote an agency and got no definite answer but that there had been an avalanche in Alaska mountains that had covered/killed 100 people or so.
I would like to find out if anyone is related to Michael Bodnar's brothers or sister, or brothers or sisters of his parents, Iwan and Melenia.
I am Aimee Natal, daughter to Amelia Sophia (Bodnar) Bilyeu, daughter of Michael Bodnar, son of Iwan Bodnar.Unfortunately, that is as far back as we can go. firstname.lastname@example.org
