I have a grandfather Jack/John/Johannes Bogen who died 1947 in NSW Australia believed to then be about 61 years old.
He was a man of mystery who hid his identity and his movements well. I believe he was probably German Swiss although he claimed to be Swedish. He said he came from a family of 11 children, he lived in the alps, he lived in Lake Constance(hmmm, maybe!!).
He is believed to have come to Austby ship, probably as crew and to have jumpedship, probably in Victoria. There is also a story that Bogen was only part of his name. There is also a strong suspicion he had more than one family in NSW.
Only other clue is that he knew a lot about farming bees and had done so as a child.
As you will understand I have not progressed far with this ancestor. Sometimes I feel thisbrick wall is insurmountable.
Any assistance greatly appreciated. Helen Armstrong from near Sydney, Australia.
