Hi Matt, Thanks so much for writing! Yes, we are definitely related!! My great grandmother is Mae Boisen Hanneman. She is the daughter of John and Sophia Boisen, and would be your grandfather, Donevan's, older sister. She is still alive and doing pretty well for a 94 year old! Maybe you already know that...do you live in Iowa?
I have been doing some research still and have found quite a bit information on Mary Rostermundt since I last posted on the message board. This is what I have:
Maria Christine Rostermund came over from Hamburg, Germany, to New York on the Ship Saxonia on May 6, 1870.She was 14 years old. Along on the ship were her family members: Paul, age 45, Farmer Magde., age 46 Grete, age 19 N.(male), age 17 Joh. (male), age 7 Herm. (male), age 5
Wm. Boisen married Mary on June 6, 1876 at St. Paul's Evangelical Church in Luzerne, Benton County, IA
I am guessing she was born in 1856. It looks like they added a "t" to the end of their name when they came to America.Other than that, I haven't come up with much else.I know that William and Mary are buried in Cedar Rapids, but I am not sure of the exact location. Do you have much on William(parents, emigration info, etc.)?I do know that he was a very talented man as he practically founded the town of Van Horne. I, also, have some info on the Pieper side, as well, if you are interested, and am currently hunting down Clementina Boone, Sophia Pieper Boisen's mother. Please let me know, too, if you have any questions, or if you are willing to share.I am happy you responded and happy to help!
Thanks so much and looking forward to your reply, Kate (Hanneman) Ramsey firstname.lastname@example.org
