Regarding Peter Bolenbaugh, s/o John & Susan (Bixler) Bolenbaugh....
There is one online listing for Homer Cemetery, Hamilton County, Iowa....the list includes:
Lot 6 - H Haller1901
Lot 22 - P Bolenbaugh 1901
and many others
(note - in a previous post, I said that the info was posted by John Harrison -another researcher transcribed and posted the notes; it was John Harrison a caretaker of the cemetery, who made the listing, many years ago)
Because of the above listing, I thought Peter Bolenbaugh might have died 1901 and that he was bd at Homer Cemetery. However, online transcriptions of newspaperarticles refer to the death of Peter Bolenbaugh, along with a wife and a nephew, on 24 May 1896 in a destructive cyclone in Iowa. The cyclone "caught up the house of Peter Bolenbaugh north of Santiago....," etc.Santiago is in Polk County. This month, Becke Dawson posted a little blurb from the Mitchellville Index of 21 August 1902 which explains that a grave marker had just been erected with funs raised to defray funeral expenses for Peter Bolenbaugh and wife who "were killed in the cyclone which occurred the 24th of May, 1896."
The WPA 1930's Grave Registration Survey shows for Polk County, Iowa:
Elferta Bolenbaugh1838-1896Mitchelville Cemetery, no location given, Polk County, Iowa (prob s/b Electa dbs)
Peter Bolenbaugh1836-1896Mitchelville Cemetery, no location given, Polk County, Iowa25th Wis. Inf.
The above is FYI.I am still interested in information on Susan Bixler Bolenbaugh's death if anyone knows of it. She was still living in 1880.
