This is our family. We have researched this extensively over the past 20+ years. For years there has been discrepancy over the Goodman and Henderson last names. John and Lydia had James Franklin Bolton. He married Martha. Here again, one child's death certificate says her mother was Martha Smith, another says she was Margaret Risher.Dad said it could be either, but he thought it was Smith. His mother was Isabella Bolton, James and Martha's daughter. We know that John and Lydia had a son named Osborne Lockett Bolton, who married Nancy Risher, so , here we go again. Kay Risher and several of us have tried to make the connections over the years. There were two different John and Lydia's in NC. One went to Georgia, the other to Clarke County, MS. Agaisn, John and Lydia had a 4 year old Celestia Agnes Buffington living with them on the 1850Clarke County,MS census. We never saw her name again till later, when she married John Andrew Webster Coats. None of her family know much about her, except one granddaughter told me years ago she was Indian. John and Lydia had land in MS, and one thing that makes research hard, is the courthouses burned. During the Civil War a man took a lot of the records in a wagon and hid them in the woods. We have been to the Mississippi area andlooked in the courthouses and libraries. There is so much more.
