I am sixth generation Boman of which James Boman, Hancock County, Illinois is the second.James Barton Boman is buried with his wife Francis in Leanna Cemetery, Allen County, Kansas. My grandfather, Samuel Robert Boman was his son and is buried in the Swedish Cemetery near Savonburg, Neosho County, Kansas. My father was Samuel Nelson Boman born in Neosho County Kansas in 1897.Samuel Robert had four children: Francis Kelly who is buried in Vancouver, Washington, Ethel who died as a child, Samuel Nelson (my father)who died in 1980 is buried in Garden City, Kansas, and Nell Mudge who is buried in Vancouver Washington.
According to my father, there were three brothers who came to the USA with a German spelling. They changed it to Bowman. However, the father of James Boman was made a bound boy, resented his brothers for it, and removed the "w". My father, who knew James Barton Boman as a child, told me I am the sixth generation.
I have contact with some of the family of Francis Kelly. There two sons, Robert and Ralph who are buried in Vacouver Washington.I do not remember the names of all of the daughters but Verna, Mrs. Virgil Myers of Vancouver, Washington is one I correspond with as well as the widow of Robert and Ralph, Barbara Kelly of Vancouver, Washington. She and Ralph have a son, Mike Kelly of Port Angeles, Washington who is interested in genealogy.
