I read with interest all the searches for our uncommon but varied spellings of now most common spelling Bonnyman. I give my ancestry line of Bonniemans. my great grandmother Josephine Docar BONNIEMAN b 1863 Turriff her father thereat Railway Stationmaster, her parents James Bonnieman 1829 b Keith d1898 ABERDEEN and Elizabeth Kidd mar 1858 Fyvie. James parents John Bonnieman d 1868 Turriff and Janet Brodie d1860 Keith. John maybe b 1791 and son of James Bonnieman and Anne Morrison but not sure on that. Josephine died 1950 Wellington New Zealand where i born 1948 thou now I reside Scotland. In Blacks book Scottish Surnames, Bonnyman most probably derived from lands of Balnamoon in parish Menmuir in Angus. Local pronunciation is "Bonnymune". Thou I notice on an ordnance survey map of KEITH and Huntly area in Grange parish near Keith a Balnamoon which in area most Bonnymans etc seem to have originally lived. ALL BEST TO ALL DISTANT RELATIONS.
