MRS. RALPH BORGMAN JULY 11, 1940
Mrs. Ralph Borgman died at her home in Chatsworth Tuesday evening, July 9th, at the age of 64 years. She had been in failing health for some time and suffered a paralytic stroke Saturday evening preceding her death, which rendered her left side helpless. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Chatsworth Evangelical church with Rev. J.V. Bischoff officiating. Burial will be in the Chatsworth cemetery. Catherine M. Borgman was born in Germanville township January 11, 1876, a daughter of Henry and Fredericka Hornickel, and spent her entire life in this locality. She was married to Ralph Borgman June 28, 1899. To this union five children were born, all of whom together with the husband survive. The children are; Chester and Mrs. Merna Miller, of Chicago; and Robert, Margaret and Lila at home. She also leaves three brothers, C.F. Hornickel, of Oakland, California; J.C. Hornickel, of Heron Lake, Minnesota; and Robert, of Chatsworth, also three sisters, Mrs. Mollie Hinote, of Champaign; Mrs. Christina Singer, of Strawn and Mrs. Anna Hahn, of Champaign. She was a member of the Evangelical church and the Royal Neighbors of America; a faithful wife, a kind and loving mother and a good friend. For many years she operated a boarding house, making it a real home for those who stayed with her and to whom she was affectionately known as "Ma" Borgman. The certificate gave the cause of death as cerebral homorhage and arterio schlerosis.
