Can anyone help with the people listed in this document? Does anyone know of the relationship that existed between the Bottom's and Bentley's? Does anyone know the relationship of the Bottom's of Amelia to the Bottom's of Brunswick? Did they end up in South Carolina or Tennessee?
This Indenture made this twentieth day of October 1785 BETWEEN Abraham Botton (Bottom) and Elizabeth his wife of the County of Brunswick Virginia of the one part & Jeremiah Bently of the County of Amelia of the other part . . . for and in consideration of the sum of forty pounds . . . have bargained and sold and by these presents one certain tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the County of Brunswick containing by estimation fifty acres . . . & bounded as followeth BEGINNING at the mouth of the Rockey Run, Thence up the said Run the various water course to Thomas Pinner's line, Thence along the said Pinner's line of marked trees to a corner pine on Thomas Steven's line, Thence along the said Steven's line of marked trees to Fountain's Creek, Thence down the said Creek the Various watercourse to the BEGINNING Run it being the same Land that Abraham Bottom bought of William Sucale & the said Sucale (or Sucate) of David Stokes . . . Signed by Abraham Botton (his mark) and Elisabeth Botton (her mark). Brunswick County Court the 24th Day of October 1785. This Indenture was acknowledged by Abraham Botton & Elisabeth his wife parties thereto and Ordered to be Recorded previous to which the said Elizabeth being privately examined as the Law directs did Voluntarily assent thereto.
