My 2g grandfather's brother, John Robert Brock, and sister, Sarah Louisa Brock Bottom, had both gone to Oregon after the Civil War. Apparently John Robert went first to CA, and then to OR, along with his wife Cassandra "Cassie" Rushing and their children; this would have been around the late 1860's or early 1870's.
I was recently surprised to find that Sarah Louisa and her husband, Charles A Bottom, and family also went to CA and then OR, apparently after the death of her mother in June 1886. Both families lived in Newberg, Yamhill Co, in the same ward, not too far apart, on census returns in the early 1900's and so they must have been in some contact with one another. As near as I can tell, some of this clan moved to Contra Costa Co CA, to WA, to Clatsop Co, and to the Portland area by 1920.
I have more details that I would like to share and/or confirm with interested persons.
