I have a diary written by Capt. E. E. Bouldin covering the time before, during, and after the Civil War.He was a Cavalry Captain who was for a time in prison at Camp Chase Ohio.Does anyone have additions or corrections to the following information?:
Thomas Bouldinge is believed to be the immigrant of the Bouldin family.Thomas was born about 1584 in Barford, Warwick, Enbland.After almost five months at sea, he and wife Mary arrived at Jamestown in August of 1610 on the ship “Swan.”They moved south to “Kecoughtan Village” in the area which is now Newport News, Virginia.Around 1612, Mary had a son William.
William Bouldin married Ann Jacobs in 1649 in Cecil County, Maryland and died in 1671 in Baltimore, Maryland.They had at four sons John Bouldin, Thomas Bouldin, William Bouldin, and Mary Bouldin (who married James Thwate).
William Bouldin, son of William and Ann, was born about 1665 in Virginia and died in Cecil County, Maryland.He married Thomasin Nash in 1687 in Cecil County.
Colonel Thomas Bouldin was born on January 15, 1706 in Cecil County, Maryland and died on May 1, 1783 in Charlotte County, Virginia.Thomas married Ann (Nancy) Wood Clark (1715-1780) on June 19, 1733 in Cecil County, Maryland. Thomas received a land grant from King George II for 970 acres.He was appointed the first Sheriff of Lunenburg County and served as Justice from 1749 to 1759.He served in the French and Indian War from 1753 to 1768 and in 1773, he was commissioned a Lieutenant Colonel in the militia of Charlotte County.Thomasand Ann had eight children: James, Ephraim, Francenia, Ensign Thomas (Rev. War), Joseph, Major Wood (Rev. War), Richard, and William Bouldin.
Major Wood Bouldin was born on June 4, 1742 in Cecil County, Maryland and died on March 13, 1800 in Charlotte County, Virginia.He was a Major in the Continental Line during the Revolutionary War and cited for gallantry at Brandywind and Germantown.Wood married Joanna Tyler on April 2, 1777 in Charlotte County.Joanna’s brother was Governor John Tyler of Virginia, who was the father of John Tyler, the tenth President of the United States.Wood and Joanna had eight children:Anne, Mary, Francenia, Rachel Contesse, Martha Lewis, Louis Contesse, Thomas Tyler Bouldin (Member of Congress), and James Wood Bouldin (Member of Congress).
James Wood Bouldin was born in 1794 in Charlotte County, Virginia and died on March 30, 1854 in Charlotte County.He married Martha Goode (daughter of Thomas Goode, Member of Congress, and Elizabeth Prosper) in 1810 and had a son Samuel Goode Bouldin.
James Wood Bouldin married Allice Jouett on December 7, 1813 in Charlotte County.They had six children: (1) Thomas Tyler Bouldin, (2) James Bouldin, (3) Elsie (Alice) Bouldin, (4)Joanna Tyler Bouldin, (5)Dr. Robert Jouett Bouldin, and (6) D. M. Bouldin.
James Wood Bouldin married Almeria Kennon Read (daughter of Rev. Clement Read) on July 22, 1829 in Charlotte County, Virginia.Almeria was born July 2, 1794 and died on October 16, 1856.They had four children:

Capt. Edwin Edmunds Bouldin was born on March 31, 1838 in Charlotte County, Virginia and died on October 29, 1912 in Danville, Virginia.On February 9, 1871, he married Lucy Lyne Edmunds (daughter of Joseph Edmunds and Elizabeth Hodge) in Charlotte County.They had eight children:(1) Rev. James Wood Bouldin (2) Bessie Bouldin(3) Joseph Edmunds Bouldin (4) Almeria Bouldin (5) Louis C. Bouldin (member of the Virginia Senate) (6) Lucy Lyne Bouldin (7) Frnaces Herbert Boulin (8) Harriet Louis Bouldin.
(1) The Reverend James Wood Bouldin was born November 15, 1871 in Danville, Virginia.He married Janie Howard (daughter of C. Allen Howard adn Mildred Turner) and they had five children:(a) Lucy Bouldin (b) Mildred Bouldin (c) Edwin E. Bouldin (d) James W. Bouldin (e) Howard Bouldin.
(2)Elizabeth Edmunds “Bessie” Bouldin was born July 10, 1873.On September 4, 1895, she married Julian Meade (son of Dr. Baylies Meade and Mary Opie) and they had a son Edwin B. Meade.Their home was at 924 Grove Street in 1908.Julian and his son Edwin Meade continued the law practice which Capt. Bouldin began in 1865 until Edwin B. retired in 1968; a period of 103 years.
(3)Joseph Edmunds Bouldin was born in April of 1875.He married Littlie Hill and had a son named Joseph E. Bouldin.When Capt. Bouldin died in 1912, Joseph was living with his father.
(4)Almeria “Alma” Bouldin was born on May 4, 1877 in Danville, Virginia.She married Rev. Walter J. Garrison (son of Thomsa Garrison and Emily Smith).They had five children:
(a) Emily Garrison (b) Bessie Garrison (c) Lucy Bouldin Garrison (d) Walter J. Garrison (e) Robert Garrison.
(5)Louis C. Bouldin was born May 15, 1879 (March 27, 1879) and died on January 25, 1880.(“Died at 9 months”).
(6)Lucy Lyne Bouldin was born in November 1880 and married Hugh Caperton.They had sons (a) Hugh Caperton and (b) Bouldin Caperton.
(7)Frances Herbert Bouldin was born in October 1882 and married Frances Herbert Bouldin.They had children: (a) Bessie Montgomery and (b) Evelyn Montgomery.
(8)Harriet Louis Bouldin was born on February 27, 1885 and married Philip P Nelson.The had three children(a) Ethlyn Nelson (b) Lucy Lyne Nelson (c) Betsy Paige Nelson.
