Frederick, you have raised some interesting possibilities and added quite a bit to my knowledge base re the Bourdons/Bourdeaux. Thank you.I will see if I can use it to eke out a bit more information re the life of Francois Molaire.
The Earl Fischer database of the St. Louis Genealogical Society (online and searchable) gives four, rather than three, children for Joseph Bourdon and -----Indian, all christened in the Louis King of France Cathedral on the following dates (all of which are substantially earlier than the birth dates you gave): --Charles christened August 1789 --Eulalie January 1793 --Louis February 7, 1795 (you do not show at all) --Rosalie 1791
While the possibility that Jacques Bourdon m. Julie Lebrun 1800 Illinois could be one and the same as Charles Bourdeau father of Felicite seems extremely likely, it is curious that the Old Cathedral records spell Felicite's surname Bourdeau in her marriage record, and Charles son of Joseph Bourdon. Probably Jacques or Charles was a middle name and they are the same fellow.Come to think of it, I seem to recall that I found Felicite's last name spelled Bourdon in the St. Louis marriage records, and Bourdeau in the Old Cathedral records.
There is also an Amaranthe Bourdeau in the database who married Francois Lacroix 25 April 1827.There is a Jacques Bordeaux with child Pierre Bourdeaux listed as well. It looks like the three spellings were used somewhat interchangeably, not surprising considering their similar pronunciations.
Felicite's parents are not recorded in the Fischer database, rather in Catholic Marriages St. Louis Missouri 1774-1840 records of the St. Louis Genealogical Society.Tara West Mooney posted that marriage record for me on the Molaire genforum December 4 if you want to view it.
The Illinois connection is an interesting one to me.There seems to have been a lot of movement between St. Louis and Illinois, especially Chicago. My great-grandmother and her grandmother, Susan J. Unknown widow of Molaire, ended up there by 1880 (Susan and her second husband adopted and raised my grandmother). The Molaires disappear from St. Louis records, by and large, by about 1860, and I cannot place the family after that (I have checked Illinois census records to no avail).
