My grandfather's name was William Henry Bovill, born in (I believe) Birknhead, near Liverpool, England. As you probably already know, names were recycled in those days and William crops up a fair few times in the line. I would appreciate anything you have for the name Bovill/Boville/Bobell. I have heard that the name "Bovill" is a corruption of the words "Beau Bells", which are in London. The story goes that if you lived within earshot of the Beau Bells, you were a true Eastender. Hope that helps. The name Bovill is also associated with "Blackbirding", which, I believe, is another name for slave trading.
