I'd like to know the sources, other than James Savage, for the following death dates:
Generation No. 1
1. THOMAS* ICABOD1 BOWERMAN was born 1611 in England, and died May 25, 1679 in Barnstable, Barnstable Co., MA. He married HANNAH* ANNABLE March 10, 1644/45 in Barnstable Co., MA, daughter of ANTHONY* ANNABLE and JANE* MOMFORD. She was born March 1, 1624/25 in Plymouth Colony, MA, and died June 4, 1663.
My sources, PCR 4:19, indicate that Anthony Annable's request for a grant of land for his daughter, Hannah Burman, was granted on June 3, 1663. Hannah was eligible for the land grant because she was one of the firstborn children of the colony. And then, in PCR 4:41, Anthony Annable was appointed administrator of the estate of Thomas Burman on 1 June, 1663. The will was dated in May of 1663 and names Hannah executrix and names all of the children so I am assuming that this Thomas Burman is the man now known as Thomas Bowerman, husband of Hannah Annable Burman.
If Hannah died 3 days later on June 4, 1663, then her children, all minors, were left orphans. Who was/were appointed guardians? Her father makes no mention of them in his will and I can find no mention in the PCR of appointment of guardians.
It's much more likely that Hannah was the one who died in 1679...
Just one of the little inconsistencies and mysteries that I'm trying to work out in this Bowerman research. If anyone has any better information to add, please share it.
