William Bolen..etc Virginia Ohio Kentucky Illinois
Please, please...Need some ideas to hurdle this brick wall. After years of searching the Sullivan line I discovered that my biological father was raised by the Sullivan's but fathered by a Bolen. Thus my research has started over. Dna testing proves this. So here I am with William Bolen who was born 1828 in Ohio (his parents in Virginia) and died in White County, Illinois. He married Nancy Jane Hudson, born 1831. She and her parents were born in New York. The migration is from the East coast to Ohio, Kentucky and then Illinois. I have exhausted all measures I can think of to obtain more information on both of the parents names. I have located Nancy Jane Hudson's mother, Hannah Hudson. I have ordered and viewed death registers from Illinois and the Family History Library. William and Nancy were buried in the Enfield cemetery but cannot locate any records for proof. I have contacted White County for information to no avail. They aren't listed on any death record. I can't locate any records for William Bolen in Ohio although he was born there, so his parents must have lived there as well. I can't locate any marriage records for the two of them. I have searched Kentucky marriage records as their first five children were born in Maysville, Mason, Kentucky beginning in 1852. I have searched surrounding states marriage records as well to no avail. I have located the 1850 Ohio census for Nancy Jane with her mother Hannah and her sister Charlotte. Located William and Nancy in the 1860 Kentucky census under Bowen, 1865 Illinois state census under Bolen, 1870 Illinois census under Baker and 1880 census under Bolen. What more can I do to locate death records and marriage records? My ultimate goals are to locate William Bolen's siblings and his parents, Nancy Jane Hudson's fathers name. I am confident after locating that information the flood gates will open. I did locate a newspaper article that mentions William Bolen's death and am following up. I am in the process of obtaining several newspapers via interlibrary loan. Browsing some newspapers seems to be one method I can obtain some clues. I appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!!
