David,I am taking the liberty of posting my response to your request by email for sources relating to the Box family in Washington Co. NC.I believe this to be information of interest to other Box researchers.
The land deeds of Washington County NC/TN record the presence of a number of the Box family in the area known as the Nolichucky Settlement in the time interval of 1776 to 1784.They were James Box, Robert Box, Edward Box, Henry Box, John Box, Michael Box, Joseph Box and Mary Box.I am sure there are other sources but these were the ones that I put into a list at one time.Verna Stone and Jackie Peters found documentation of the Box family in eightbooks : Washington County TN Deeds 1775-1800by Lorraine Rae published in 1991
