I wonder if you can help. I seem to be going round in circles trying to research our family tree. Im doing it for my husbands family, His Dad died when he was little and he has no one left who can remember much about the past to help us do the family tree.
I have found a little bit out, as we have had a medal that his Dad gave us and that is of a sgt George Thomas Boyd that was born in Donegal in 1886 and was a member of the masonic Lodge of letterkenny. I have some history of the medal and I know he went to Canada to fight in the war. We believe that he had a brother called Harry that married Elsie and had my husbands gramp (also George thomas) and a John, Florrie, Peggy, Jack, Vena and Ray Boyd. We do not know where any of these people were born. I do know their children's and partners names.
What I would like to do was to find out more about my husbands grandfather and the relations before that, like who was his mum and Dad.
On some information from Sgt George Thomas Boyd, it gives a name of his next of Kin as a John T (maybe J) Boyd
My husband knows that his Gramp died round about in 1990 as he was in the British army and was not allowed to go to the funeral due to being in northern ireland. and we do know that he is burried with his sister florrie in Altnagelvin Cemetry.
