CHAPTER XXXV (p. 398) BOYER.
Who were the parents of the Boyers to be recorded in this chapter may never be known, unless the historian finds church records or court records in which the list of the children occurs. Professor Longdon, one of the correspondents of the historian, believes that the family lived in the neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is, therefore, not only possible, but very likely, that the family belongs to Montgomery County, Bucks, Lancaster, or Chester County. If, as the dates of birth, coupled with settlement in Maryland, seem to prove, the Christopher in question, was really the Christopher listed as brother of Michael and others by the descendants of Michael--and their data comes from old Bible records--the parents may have moved with their children and be found buried in Hagerstown, Maryland. The children were Michael, Christopher, Catherine, sister, sister, Margaret, Susan, Elizabeth, and Andrew (probably).
B (1) Michael Boyer, son of Boyer and wife, born about 1750, died Aug. 9, 1810. Married (1st Margaret Clapper, (2nd) Dorothy Wolfe Noch. Children: Henry, Mary, Elizabeth, Catherine, Christina, Michael; B (2) Christopher Boyer was born May 20, 1752, died Feb. 10, 1832, and is buried on Francis Giltner's farm, Hunter Bottom, Carroll Co., Kentucky. If Professor Longdon is not mistaken he came from (p. 399) Philadelphia, Pa., to Hagerstown, Md. before the year 1796. He was a Revolutionary soldier, wounded at the Battle of Brandywine. The only Christopher Boyer of the Revolutionary War, not already identified by the historian, is Stofel (Christopher) Boyer, recorded on page 9, Vol. 7, Fifth Series, Pennsylvania Archives. This Christopher Boyer was a private soldier, in 1775, from Heidelberg Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa. If this is the man in question, the historian may be able to identify him with the Lancaster County earliest Boyer settler. In the year 1796, or later, he moved with his family to Bourbon County, Kentucky, where he became an expert Indian fighter. In 1809 he moved to Clark County, Indiana. He was married to Ann Youst, and at the time of his residence in Clark County, Indiana, he had eleven children. Ann Youst was born June 20, 1756, and died Sept. 20, 1831. The children were John, Jacob, Michael, Catharine, sister (Mrs. Redinbow), Elizabeth, sister (Mrs. Robert Henry), Philip, Abraham, and two others; B (3) Catharine Boyer married Abraham Dumbauld, born 1758. Children: Fred, Mary, Philip, David, Peter, Christina, Elizabeth, Barbara, Dollie; B (4-8) Mrs. Karns, Mrs. Abram Dumbauld, Margaret, and Susan (Heck), and Elizabeth (wife of Abram Horner), were sisters of the above Catharine.
