The Elizabeth (Wiggs?) Bressie/Bracey I was referring to clearly was not a Quaker, though her family may have been. She owned slaves and gave part of them to her children shortly before her death, including 3 to Mary Bressie Lewis, wife of Edward. (Mecklenburg County, Virginia Deed Book 6, p. 355) The rest were bequeathed in her will. (Meckenburg County, Virginia Will Book 2, page 168)William Bressie, the Quaker, who married Susannah Jones, was the uncle of the William Bressie who is believed by many researchers to be the father of Francis Bressie, husband of Elizabeth. He is believed by some researchers to have brought William and his brother, Hugh, to America about 1671; although their father, Thomas, may have come much earlier and returned to Bristol, England. The nephews are mentioned in his will. So apparently there was a break with the Quaker background. Your research has turned up some interesting points. Thanks for sharing.
