My ancestor Dorothee THIES, born in Beckedorf district Celle in NiederSachsen, or Lower Saxony, Germany had a cousin WILHELM BRAMMER, whom she addressed as "Bill." Dorothee Thies wrote numerous letters to Wilhelm Brammer until about 1944 (possibly when he died?).
At about the time my ancestorss emigrated to South Africa in the early 1890s, Wilhelm Brammer and his family (identity unknown), emigrated to the U.S., and settled in Wisconsin. A large number of Germans from Lower Saxony also moved to Wisconsin. Their favorite card game was Schohps Kop (Sheep's Head) - which my ancestors in South Africa also continued to enjoy.
My ancestor, Marie DOROTHEE Thies, was born on 13 May 1866 (in Beckedorf), died Sept. 1946 (in Natal, South Africa) and was married to JOHANN Heinrich Kaiser. Johann and Dorothee went to South Africa in 1893.
Does anyone know anything about any Brammer's in Wisconsin?
