My gr grandmother Fannie B. McKenzie m. a James A. Branch before 1888 in unknown place, possibly Sherman, TX, she lived in Denison before and after 1888.

I haven't been able to locate anything about him. The story goes that he was from Louisiana and part Am. Indian and shortened his name since he was ashamed of being an Indian.
Does anyone know what Indian name would be shortened to Branch? Oh and he was suppose to have been killed in a fight in OK after 1892. Not a lot to go on as you can see, thanks!
