Frank--my name is Steve Strickland and I am the editor of the Chattooga County (GA) Historical Society Quarterly. I wonder if I might enlist your help.
Benjamin Branner (b. c.1805), descendant of your Casper, and his wife Jane Lucky Branner, came to Chattooga County in 1844, and settled a farm called Forest Home.Mrs. Branner also taught a private school in Summerville.Mr. Branner built one of the first brick stores in Summerville. They were very prominent.
My request:I would like very much to run a piece on the Branners in our Quarterly.Would you mind photocopying pertinent pages and sending to me--or putting me in touch with any descendants from this line?Any help will be appreciated.Additionally, we will be doing a "Heritage" book for the county before too long and I want to make sure the Branners are included--even though the line is, as far as I know, not represented in the county anymore.Looking forward to hearing from you.Steven W.
