My interest in this family is Zephaniah Brawner. I believe he was the eldest son of Edward and Nancy Ann Franklin Brawner. He remained in Prince William County VA and raised at least one family there.
I have Edward as born in 1762 and his father as John Brawner who married an Elizabeth and was also the father of Henry Dozier Brawner. Norma Lundgren was interested in this line. She has looked at the various John Brawners in the mid 1700s quite closely. You can always post to her on the Maryland, Charles County Rootsweb list.
My Brawner family of interest was focused on Prince William Co. Zephaniah is not in my direct line but he has always fascinated me. It appears from the census records that he was married fairly early, probably in MD and then he moved to VA and married again to Fanny ?? His property was the site of fighting during the Civil War and there are Civil War graves on the site. However, I have never been able to discover who his first wife was. A daughter from his marriage with Fanny, Silent Brawner, married Samuel Haislip. Samuel's parents lived next door to my Brawner family in 1850 and Haislips form an important part of one of my Brawner lines. Zephaniah's older daughter Genetta married Samuel's older brother Robert.
Hope this is helpful.
Cheers
Lynne Simpson
